Mr. Klein has been a member of the Chicago section AIHA since 2003. He recently took a position with Travelers Risk Control after 5 years at Liberty Mutual Group in Plainfield, IL within their Loss Control Advisory Services Department. He has performed over 400 industrial hygiene surveys in multiple manufacturing environments, including non-traditional assessments such as evaluation of non-ionizing radiation, cotton dust, isocyanates, TGIC, Coal Tar Pitch Volatiles, and natural rubber latex. Survey emphasis is focused on uncontrolled overexposures and guidance on strategies to effectively control those exposures. Additional responsibilities include performing investigations specifically concerning occupational disease related claims (e.g. dermatitis, respiratory disorders, noise induced hearing loss, etc.) in addition to providing technical support for the Underwriting department.
Prior to Liberty Mutual, he spent two years as a consultant with Hygieneering Inc. in Willowbrook, IL performing various projects associated with asbestos abatement, industrial hygiene, and process safety management. Mr. Klein is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and is a graduate of Illinois State University’s Environmental Health program (Industrial Hygiene emphasis). Mr. Klein’s goals as a board member of Chicago AIHA are to actively assist, facilitate, and engage in coordination of meetings and events. Most importantly, he desires to learn from others, share experiences, and ultimately grow the profession.
