Eugene has been employed for 18 years at Exxon Mobil. His current position is as a Staff Industrial Hygienist for Global Medicine & Occupational Health at the Joliet, Illinois refinery where he manages the site IH program. Previously, he worked for 11 years with OSHA as an IH field inspector, IH supervisor, and Acting Area Director providing Region V Technical Support.
He is a member of the NIOSH NORA (National Occupational Research Agenda) Construction Council, appointed as the AIHA representative to serve as Co-Chair of the Health Hazards Work Group and member of the Surveillance Work Group.
As part of the Three Rivers Manufacturing Safety Group, Eugene led the Contractor Industrial Hygiene Working Group in developing a set of contractor IH requirements and training for area companies to use. He is also a volunteer member of the Will County Emergency Management HazMat team (17 years) and a volunteer member of the Illinois Medical Emergency Response Team serving as Safety Officer. The team responds to mass casualty incidents and supports the Illinois National Guard Civil Support Team.
Education background includes a BS in Physiology ('77) and MS in Health & Safety (’80) from the University of Illinois.
