Fred Tremmel has been a member of Chicago AIHA since the mid-1980s, and has served several terms as a Chicago Section board member since 1992.  He also served in the Chicago Section officers’ roles, as board Secretary, President-elect, and finally board President during the 1999-2000 term.  Since the mid-1990s, he has worked to organize and support Chicago Section Student Night. 

For the past 20 years, he has worked for Amoco and BP in a variety of IH roles, and currently supports BP Refining.  Prior to joining Amoco, he worked for the USG Corporation and for the federal government as an OSHA Compliance Officer (Niles Illinois area office) and for NIOSH in Document Development.  He has been a CIH (comprehensive practice) since 1988, and is a long-standing member of both national AIHA and of ACGIH (associate member). 

Fred holds degrees from the University of Chicago (BA, Biological Sciences 1975) and from the University of Iowa (MS Pharmacology 1978 and PhD Preventive Medicine & Environmental Health 1984).
