Mark D. Johnson, MSPH, Ph.D., DABT
I am currently a Senior Environmental Health Scientist with the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) and Senior Regional Representative of the Region 5 office in Chicago. Prior to coming to ATSDR in 2001, I was a Toxicologist with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Region 5, where I provided toxicology and risk assessment support for the Superfund program. Before coming to EPA in 1994, I was an Assistant Professor of Pathology at Northwestern University Medical School, teaching and supervising a research laboratory in the Lurie Cancer Center. I am currently the Assistant Director for Science in the Division of Regional Operations at ATSDR
My education training includes an undergraduate degree in Biology from Augustana College, Rock Island, IL; an M.S. degree in Public Health from the University of Illinois_ Chicago, specializing in Occupational and Environmental Medicine; a PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with a joint degree in Oncology and Environmental Toxicology; a postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University, Institute of Cancer Research, and Toxicologist accreditation by the American Board of Toxicology.
